To my wonderful readers, I shall willingly share my testimony today with you, and I hope this testimony will help you give you an idea of what God had done in my life. And I believe the best is yet to come.
Members of SIBKL, were trained to practice S.M.I.L.E. as a method of sharing their testimony to others.
S=Scan
M=Mingle
I=Intro
L=Linger
E=Exit
And we trained especially not to use Christian jargons such as, "the Holy Spirit", "Hallelujah","Jehovah" etc. As so the person listening, can understand fully of what we are trying to explain. So, I shall not use christian jargons.
We were also taught that our testimony should be roughly at a simple concept of, 'How I was before', 'How it happened' and 'what happened after that'.
So lets begin.......
Before I became a christian:
I was a much rather bad boy when I was young. I lived in a place called 'Taman Melawati', which is a region surrounded by mountains, hills and waterfalls, located in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. Life there was rather kampung-ish before I moved to Sungai Buloh. Every weekday, when the clock striked 5pm, all the kids in the neighbourhood would dump their bags in the corner of their living rooms and run out of the house to play on the road. We chased chickens, threw stones at monkeys, cycle downhill with our arms spread, play badminton, football, climb trees and etc. And I was constantly, getting bruises and wounds. As I was extremely active when I was young, always asking for it. Oh neighbourhood kids were fun to be with, but I mixed with the naughty ones. I was..um...racist actually. Yeah i was, the neighbourhood was occupied with equal population of malays and chinese. And as harmonious our parents were to each other, well, we weren't. We were like MIC and MCA going to war. Me and friends got ourselves into so much trouble. You see, ever so often we will get picked on by the malay kids, and eventually we could rather 'chessed off' and went bonkers at them. We bought (you know packets of chemicals inside that when you press on it, it will explode? And packets which contained small sacks of gunpowder and stones, so when you throw it hard enough it will make 'pop' sounds?)Well yeah, we threw ALOT of those at them, and whenever we passed by them, we would actually curse them with unkind words and run away. Well, we got into trouble, malay kids parents complained, and I got lectured and grounded like for 3 months. Yeah, I was a racist kid. I never went near the malay kids house again. But, they bullied us first right? -.- Well, that's one. When I was in the process in mixing around with these kids, I got influenced by them, and plus the anger raging inside me, I regret in what i did but... I bullied my siblings and my maids. How I cursed them and all, after that, really scared my memory, and I regret it every single time thinking about it. And I was only just started primary school. Basically, I was that sort of kid before I came to know the Lord.
How I came to know Jesus:
My grandmother moved in with us when I started primary school. She gradually aged, and one day, she had a stroke, which paralyzed her permanently. It was quite sad for all of us, as she looked helpless and there was no way that doctors could revive her as the stroke affected her brain. And I believe it was an even greater suffering when she turned into such a vegetable. At least, she could understand our words, and sometimes could respond with weak body signs. It must have been torture to live that way, we felt really sorry for her, as there was nothing we could do. In must have been painful and suffering for her. My mum hired the achupucture doctors, traditional chinese mesagers, but everything proved to be in vain, because there was no improvement in here health. One day, one of my mum's friend recommended a nigirian pastor to come and pray for my grandmother. He would come to our home every week and after finishing praying to my grandmother, he would share the gospel with my parents. He seemed as a very powerful pastor, and shouted in tongues when he was praying. And very often I could here him shout: "In the name of Jesus!" many times when he was praying. And I could not catch the term "Jesus" as my family weren't christians then. And sometimes the pastor would talk about Jesus to my grandmother and I knew she was listening. On the month of October 2003(if i'm not mistaken), my grandmother's died. My only hope was that her soul went to Heaven. And so after the funeral, we began going to the pastor's church and from there I grew up in God's love and learned about Jesus for a few years until I moved on to SIBKL.
What happened after:
I changed. Became a much better person with the power of God's word. And at the month of April 2007, I was baptized by my youth pastors Ps. Andy and Ps. Daniel, and after rising from the water, I officially became a A Born Again Christian. Wow. This is my awesome testimony. And I'm really grateful that I was saved by the Lord and have not have remained a free thinker. This is my life story of How I came to be a christian.
Lord, I commit this time to your hands, I pray to you that you will lay your mighty hands on each and everyone of the people that reads this post. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to use my blog to share my testimony and hope which is in me because of you. Lord, I will also like to pray for brother Nick and his blog, for you'll use his blog to touch the lives of the people that visits his blog. I do this because of you, and only for you. We live for you and for you alone. God, you're worthy of all praise. In Jesus precious and beautiful name I pray, Amen!
Sincerely,
Leon Lim Jake-Li.
